Truly Memorable Experience

This was a great full day experience and surpassed our expectations. We knew it would involve driving military vehicles but it was made up with so many additional activities including clay pigeon shooting, musket shooting and others. It was made even better by the way we were looked after by all the staff including those behind the scenes who kept us well fed. The experience was my Xmas present; my wife was an observer and got to see all activities first hand so she enjoyed it as well. Wonderful day and a special memory of driving a Stormer. Do it - you won't regret it.
What would you improve for next time? Nothing in the day's programme but reiterate to all attendees that there is very little shelter for many of the activities. Some of our party were not prepared for the sun!

Dad's 70th Birthday present

Wow!! An enjoyable day. The people who run the experience are really enthusiastic about what they are doing, they ensure everyone is included and are full of interesting stories about past experiences. My dad has been on many driving experiences, they can be very expensive and sometimes last only half an hour, this one lasts the whole day 9-6 and is packed with a range of fantastic activities. Everyone enjoyed it whether they were taking part or a spectator and we all slept well that night.
What would you improve for next time? very difficult to suggest improvements as the day was obviously carefully planned and worked well. Maybe the opportunity for the spectators to have a go on some activities (small payment).

A great day covering a number of activities including driving a tank and three other armoured vehicles, firing a muskit, and clay pigeon shooting. Very well organised and quite demanding when driving the tank. All the staff were extremely friendly. I would thoroughly recommend it

Absolutely Outstanding Day

I would highly recommend this to anyone, its a fantastic and action-packed day out! There are a whole bunch of different activities along with driving tanks like clay shooting, muskets, mortars and survival skills. Of course you also get to drive a socking great tank (technically a self-propelled gun in my case, but basically a tank) around a muddy field and blast through huge puddles with impunity! The whole day is very well organised and run, the food is great and there's lots of it and Nick, who runs the place, is very entertaining and great fun to talk to, along with having a bunch of instructors who are clearly loving every minute of it as well. If you're wondering about going with someone as a spectator and think it might be boring, it won't! You still get to ride on the tanks, learn about survival skills and weapons and watch a car get crushed into itty-bitty pieces at the end of the day!
What would you improve for next time? Not sure I can think of anything really, a bit less wind would be nice.

Best Driving Experience

5 out of 5 06 August 2011
Throttlebender
Location: West Midlands Age: Over 65 Bought For Mum Occasion: Christmas
This certainly was an extremely well organised, thrill packed 9 hour day for myself and my son who was a spectator, which will be long remembered by us both. We were split into teams and ours started with firing a musket and a mortar, which was followed by driving a Daf Leyland lorry and the tracked Lance. An extremely interesting talk on hand weapons in the armoury was followed by a delicious lunch for us both. Afterwards a 432 took us to a helpful talk on self sufficiency in the wild and then we did clay pigeon shooting. This was followed by a drive of the 432 personnel carrier around a longer course than for the previous drives and a short ladder was needed to access the driver’s position, which added to the experience. Then came the highlight of the day, the chance to drive the biggest vehicle of the day, the Gvozdika, which was even more exciting than the other vehicles because of its sheer size and weight, especially when traversing the deep gulleys on the course. Another 432 took us back to base, where we learnt who had driven the best on each vehicle, and who was the best driver overall. We were lucky as he was in our team so we could sit on the Chieftain as he drove it over the Nissan Micra. It was well worth paying for my son to be a spectator as he was with me all day and was passenger in all the vehicles that I drove except for the Lance. It was a superb day and one that we would love to repeat sometime.

A Great Day Out

Location: West Midlands Age: Under 18 Bought For Mum Occasion: Birthday
I bought this for my son's 16th birthday as he wants to join the army. It was a really well organised day with plenty of friendly staff on hand to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. I liked that the safety instructions were clear and direct, but also assumed that everyone had some commonsense. Despite never having driven (or shot) before my son did really well at the tank driving and bagged some clay pigeons! My video of him driving the big truck was cut short when he veered towards the spectators - but he soon got it back on track again! As a spectator I really enjoyed the talk by the former sniper in the armoury - spectators travel round with the group and you can ride on top of the tank if you want (I didn't!). Only downside was the waiting around for a turn on the vehicles - one station only had 2 but the other had 4 so was better. My son really enjoyed the day and so did I!
