Clipper 60, Taeping, has an impressive history, successfully completing four circumnavigations around the world. This day introduces participants to the principles of sailing in a relaxed, informal environment. A real “hands on” day out - everyone has the chance to actively crew the yacht, taking a turn at aspects from steering to working on the foredeck. Throughout the day the professional skipper and mate will be on hand to teach crew members the basics of sailing and talk them through all the manoeuvres.
The crew meet at 10am in the marina for a cup of tea or coffee and safety brief about the boat. Then head up Southampton Water into the open area of the Solent. Lunch is provided onboard. You are welcome to sit back and enjoy the ride, however you will be encouraged to take part in the sailing which will involve taking the helm, hoisting and trimming sails. This trip runs from 10am to 3pm on selected Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from April to September.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months. This experience is suitable for people over the age of 12. Anyone aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a full paying parent or guardian. Please ensure you give at least four weeks notice to secure summer dates as this is a seasonal experience. The skipper reserves the right to curtail the experience on safety grounds if the weather becomes severe. In the event that weather prevents the experience from taking place your date will be rescheduled. This experience is not suitable for those who suffer from seasickness.

I enjoyed learning about sailing on your experience it was a surprise gift and I had no problem in booking my prefered day. Got on the boat and was given a cup of tea before being offered the opportunity to get involved. In the end I sat back and watched other participants steer the ship and things but had just as good a time as they did.

I got this gift from my wife. She just found out what's in my mind. This Introduction to Sailing experience was very helpful and very kind and the sailing was perfect. This is a lifetime experience. That was one of the best gifts I've ever had.
