Head down to the beach and get involved with this fast-growing sport through this introductory course - perfect for anyone interested in taking up kitesurfing. After going through the basic elements of safety you will head straight to the water to put all the theory into practice, learning core elements of the sport and getting your confidence on the board. The power of the kite combined with the unpredictability of the surf make this exhilarating sport addictive - you’ll be hooked!
Sessions begin in the morning (start time depends on the tides). This three day course consists of 6-7 hours of tuition each day, divided into two lessons. You will be taught by qualified instructors and the basic itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 - First you will go through the basic elements of safety and some basic physics to do with flight. After that it is into the water with the kites where you can put all this theory into practice. You will use 2-line inflatable kites that can be relaunched from the water. For the remainder of the day you’ll be flying the kites, learning how to “body-surf” using the kite for power, and learning to relaunch them.
Days 2 & 3 - After practising self-rescue techniques you will get back on the board and are taught how to water start, plane and edge. You will get plenty of practise riding on these days to perfect your techniques and, if you are looking to purchase some kitesurfing equipment yourself, advice on which would be best for you.

This experience is available at 4 Locations:

  • Dorset (South West) - Portland
  • Dyfed (Wales) - Pembrokeshire
  • Norfolk (South East) - Gorleston-on-Sea
  • Norfolk (South East) - Hunstanton
Your voucher will be valid for 10 months. No experience is necessary, but you should be reasonably fit. The minimum age is 13 years, but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must notify the centre of their age and chosen activity on booking. This experience is available on selected dates. The maximum group size is four people. You will require swimwear and a towel (warm clothing is recommended). Spectators are welcome, but there may be restricted viewing of the activities. If weather conditions are unsuitable and the session is cancelled, you will be offered an alternative experience or the opportunity to rebook on another date.

The best thing about this experience (apart from the fact it was a gift so somebody else paid!) was the fact it took place over three days. Rather than just the one lesson there were several kitesurfing sessions to really help us get good at the water sport.
