About Crafts
The enjoyment of arts and crafts is a pastime that has survived through the centuries. Whatever your hobby of choice, there is no denying the pleasure and sense of achievement that comes from making something with your hands.
Budding artists can create an array of visual delights, whether painting a stunning watercolour of a country landscape, or piecing together tiles for a colourful mosaic. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, why not get behind the potter’s wheel and mould your own piece of Wedgwood pottery on a ceramics experience?
Crafts do not have to be merely things to look at; there are many craft activities that produce truly mouthwatering results. Mould delightful Belgian truffles with your ideal fillings, and dip them in delicious Belgian chocolate in a heavenly chocolate making session. You can also join a master cook in a breadmaking lesson at The Bertinet Kitchen cookery school and be surrounded by the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread the whole day.
Speaking of aromas, why not try creating your own fragrance? If Paris Hilton, Beyonce and J-Lo can do it, you can certainly create a perfume to challenge the celebrity scents! On the other hand, you could design and make some bling, with a designer jewellery making experience. Who said arts and crafts couldn’t be fun?
Facts About Crafts
-
The creation of perfume dates back to the Ancient Roman and Egyptians, who mixed herbs and spices to create their scents, but never flowers. The first perfume to be made the modern way, using flower oils, was "Hungary Water" in 1370, made at the command of Queen Elizabeth of Hungary.
-
Legendary artist Thomas Gainsborough was a firm believer in graphology – the analysis of handwriting. He insisted that when painting portraits, his subjects provided a sample of their handwriting, as it gave him a better understanding of the person, and so would help make their likeness more realistic!
-
The Mayan and Aztec civilizations believed that Cacao Beans originated from Paradise, and therefore chocolate would bring real wisdom and power to anyone who ate it! Although not technically a scientifically proven fact, this is a sentiment we wholeheartedly agree with.

Let out your inner artist as you paint your own beautiful masterpiece in the area that inspired both Gainsborough and Constable. Your expert painter will give you artistic tips as the day continues, helping you improve your work, until at the end of the day you are ready to show off your finished creation.
|
The name Wedgwood is synonymous with some of the finest pottery in the world. In this incredible experience, you and your friend have the chance to tour the factory, learn its history and then create your very own piece of Wedgwood ceramic! Your china creations will be fired in the factory’s kiln, and sent home for you to keep forever.

A little piece of heaven for any chocoholic. First indulge in a mouthwatering chocolate fountain, then set to work with a master chocolatier to create your own range of Belgian chocolate truffles! You’ll get to design, make, decorate and most importantly eat your delicious creations.

Customer Reviews of Craft Experiences
For birthday gift, my friend bought me “Create your own Fragrance” experience. I had a really good time, was lots of fun, and my perfume smelt so nice – I did not expect this! I decided to put in the vanilla and the spices, but there were so many good smelling things to choose from!
Eva Petrowska, Hammersmith

The Bertinet Kitchen’s Breadmaking Course was just brilliant. Richard Bertinet is such a good chef, and he makes it so easy to bake your own loaves and rolls at home. There really is nothing nicer than the smell of freshly baked bread, is there?
Jeremy Love, Bath

The Designer Jewellery Making Experience is the best birthday treat a girl could wish for! My sister calls me a magpie cos I love my sparkle, so when I got my voucher to spend the day making my own jewellery, and designer jewellery at that,
I was so excited! The glam bracelet I made never leaves my wrist!
