Drayton Manor used to be the home of Robert Peel (who was Prime Minister not once but twice, fact fans!). It's not known if Peel was a big fan of white knuckle thrill rides, zoos and Thomas the Tank Engine but seeing as his former home is now Drayton Manor Theme Park we are forced to assume he would have been, had he been given the chance.
Yes, where previously there was a manor house there now stands a massive amusement and theme park hosting some of the most exciting and thrillingest (is that a word?) rides in Europe. From humble beginnings as a regular park in 1949, Drayton Manor theme park has grown and now offers something for everyone; determined thrill-seekers (Apocalypse and Shockwave anyone?); family friendly fun (Excalibur and the Pirate Adventure are perfect for the younger riders); to animal lovers (a zoo with over 100 species!).
The recently opened Thomas Land is an entire area of the amusement park devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. You can go for a ride on Thomas, fly with Jeremy at his Flying Academy, or get a good view on Cranky's Drop Tower. It's the perfect place for all fans of Thomas the Tank Engine, young, or young-at-heart!
We'd like to think that Robert Peel, the previously-mentioned former Prime Minister of Great Britain, would appreciate what's happened to his former home but if he wasn't convinced then a quick go on G-Force would almost certainly change his mind.
