About Ultimate High Flying Experiences
Ever since Top Gun shot down all the box office opposition in 1986, fighter pilots have epitomised the very essence of cool; aviator sunglasses, those awesome flight jackets, incredibly fast planes, the oft-mentioned need for speed, and that sugary sweet soundtrack. And let’s not forget the ultimate high of remedying those tiresome hostile actions before hitting err… cruise control… and getting the girl.
The only problem with wanting to emulate the adventures of Maverick, Iceman and Goose (poor, tragic Goose) is that you'd have to join the air force and spend years learning to fly the fighter planes. While of course there's nothing wrong with following that particular course of action, for those of us who are a bit less patient it seemed a lost cause. Until now.

Ultimate High and Top Gun Flying facts
- With "eyes that could see forever", US air force pilot Chuck Yeager racked up 12 dogfighter victories in one month during the 2nd world war and had the honour of being the first pilot to fly America's first operational jet fighter, the Shooting Star. Not satisfied with his amazing achievements, Yeager successfully exceeded the speed of sound in a rocket-powered Bell X-1, reaching a top speed of Mach 1.06 (700 mph). Now that's an ultimate high.

Following the release of Top Gun in 1986 Bomber jacket sales increased and Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses jumped 40%, owing to their use by characters in the film. The film also bolstered Air Force and Navy recruitment, best illustrated perhaps by the navy operating recruitment booths in some theatres to lure enlistees. Popcorn and the press gang? We wonder what they’ll think of next.

Now I know why you called this flying experience an ultimate high! This really was one of the best days of my life. Flying gives you one of the most amazing rushes ever. The best bit though is when you get to tail-chase another plane which is just incredible, although a little nerve-wracking at first!

The most incredible thing I have ever done! the rush I got from taking control of the plane was unlike anything I have ever experienced, an ultimate high I guess! My parents got me this flying experience as a gift for graduating as I've always loved Top Gun. It was a suitably memorable way to mark the occassion!
