About Oulton Park
Picturesque and (mild) peril produce a thrilling circuit at Oulton Park with 2.8 miles of intoxicating exhilaration just waiting to be tackled.
A gauntlet of rapidly changing gradients, blind crests and unforgiving corners, any Oulton Park driving day experience promises high-octane daring for all you would-be Hamiltons. Home to the legendary Knickerbrook corner, a corner so unforgiving it was transformed into a sinuous chicane in ‘91, this is your chance to careen about a race track that promises unrelenting challenges, and unimagined exhilaration.
With hallowed tarmac steeped in classic British motorsport lore, and several circuits to titillate the most seasoned of diesel heads, Oulton Park has delivered racing experiences worthy of the very best since ’53. Considered by foreign and British drivers alike as surely one of the most electrifying circuits ever to have graced England’s pastures green, racing here is better then, well, you know, sliced bread…
Some interesting facts about Oulton Park

-
No place for a street fighting man? The grounds of the nearby Oulton Hall were used as an army staging camp by none other than General Patton (yes, that General Patton) in the run up to the Normandy landings.
- We can't guarantee the accuracy of this one but this is the story of how Knickerbrook Corner got its name (allegedly): a demolition company (headed by the famous Blaster Bates) were using dynamite to remove tree stumps close to the corner. After the third blast a couple were observed running away in some haste and disarray from the cover of a nearby bush - later inspection revealed ladies underwear floating in the brook and hence a legend was born …

Oulton Park video
This is a mildly diverting clip from the hey day of classic car racing. It shows some rare onboard video from Jim Clark's Lotus 25 as he wins the Oulton Park Gold Cup in 1963.
As the narrator says in the video, Oulton Park track used to have obstacles such as trees around the edge of the track. Just goes to show how much things have changed! These days you have plenty of space around the track and guides so that if you don't quite make a corner then you only get a bit of a rough ride.
