About Bungee Jumping
When David Attenborough brought back video footage of the "land divers" of Pentecost Island in Vanuatu jumping off wooden platforms with vines attached to their ankles we bet he never imagined the modern Bungee Jump would become the extreme sport that it is now.
In fact, since they perfected the ultra-safe bungee cord and New Zealander A J Hackett made his first bungee jump in 1986 we've all been mad for the exhilarating sensation of throwing ourselves off very high bridges, cliffs and cranes, collecting a few G forces and then bouncing back up again.
Luckily, Buyagift are offering a great selection of affordable Bungee Jump activity days at prices you can't really quibble with, so you can get your extreme sports kicks without getting kicked out of your flat for overdue bills. For an extra-added adrenaline rush try our FaB Bungee Jumping Day and try a backwards bungee jump as well!
The world's most brilliant Bungee Jumps
- Remember the opening scene of Goldeneye as Pierce (or at least stuntman Wayne Michaels who looks like Mr Brosnan) dives off the 722 feet Verzasca dam in Switzerland and you think he's going to keep falling forever? This bungee jump, which set the world record for longest bungee jump off of a fixed structure, won the Sky Movies All Time Best Movie Stunt award in 2002. To be fair, it was pretty awesome.
- Ever had someone tell you to go and jump off a 200ft cliff? Well now you can, attached to a bungee cord of course. The only Bungee Jumping experience in the world that allows you to literally jump off a massive cliff, The Great Canadian Bungee Jump at Morrison's Quarry (an amphitheater of solid limestone) is an amazing, exhilarating drop. The 160 ft rebound is higher than the entire jump height at any other site in the US or Canada!
- The Bridge Bungee Jump off of the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough is the only bridge bungee jump open to the general public in the UK. It's a 200ft jump over the Tees that's not for the faint of heart!
- The word "bungee" originates from New Zealand in the 1950's and is the Kiwi slang for "elastic strap". Just in case you were wondering!

Customer Reviews of Bungee Jumping
Loved this activity day. Amazing bungee jumping backwards, you can't see what you're doing you just take a leap. Felt so free.

I'd not tried bungee jumping before but I thought if I was going to take the leap, I might as well do it in style! The first jump was terrifying when I got to the top of the bungee crane and had the rope attached, but once I did it the thrill was immeasurable!

I felt a real sense of achievement after bungee jumping because it always seems easier from the ground - I'm really pleased I did it. How many people have done this bungee jump off the Transporter Bridge? Not enough I say!
