About Tanks and Monster Truck Driving
Mexican wrestlers and Monster Trucks share more than just exaggeration it seems, with celebrities like Grave Digger, Bounty Hunter and Bigfoot making appearances. Do believe the hype, the anarchic thrill of crushing those middling two-doors amongst the roaring of your monster truck's barely reigned horses and the comforting hiss of gargantuan pneumatics is an unforgettable driving experience not to be missed. Carve and cleave the most formidable terrain in these agile chariots of fire, leaving even Ben Hur and all that classic music floundering in your wake.
In casual conversation a tank might be defined as a tracked, armoured fighting vehicle intended for front-line combat, combining formidable strategic and tactical offensive with defensive capabilities. Perhaps, but what we really mean is a battleship on wheels with a massive gun turret on the front, perfect for those pleasant jaunts about the countryside.
Not the speediest chap on the block, tanks make up for any slothfulness with their ability to traverse trenches, vault valleys and put paid to puddles. Seriously though, our tank driving experiences are way cooler than your annual RAC renewal or your grandfather’s tax disc collection.
Interesting facts about tanks and monster trucks
-
H.G Wells’ "The Ironclads" contains one of the first references to ‘tanks’ but it took an Austrian, Günther Burstyn, and an Australian, the wonderfully named Lancelot de Mole, to create the first practical designs for these wheeled fortresses in 1911.
-
During the '80s radio advertisements for monster truck racing consisted of a beginning, "Sunday!!! Sunday!!! Sunday!!!"and an ending, "BE THERE!!!!!!". Sage words uttered by none other then one Larry "Supermouth" Huffman. We can't, unfortunately, guarantee that your monster truck driving day will be similarly advertised.
-
In an effort to devise a name for these new military vehicles the creativity of British central command cannot be faulted. Referring to them variously as cistern, tank and motor-war car. Tank was decided upon for its 'linguistic simplicity'. That and driving a cistern isn’t all that terrifying. Hmmm.

Licensed to thrill, Military Manoeuvres offers the chance to commandeer a gargantuan APC (that’s an armored personnel carrier for the uninitiated but anything to do with the military sounds cooler with an acronym), and three other formidable military vehicles guaranteed to have the pulse quickening. Hear sage words from military vehicle specialists before being unleashed upon savage terrain for a tank driving experience of truly gladiatorial proportions. |
Lord Kitchener needs you. Firing flintlock muskets and 17th century mortars before careening about in at least four military vehicles this experience is guaranteed to blunt even experienced battleaxes. Learn SAS skills in the woods and attend a briefing in modern terrorism before pitting yourself against the other contestants for a chance to conquer a family saloon with a 56ton Chieftain Tank. We can’t give you the Kitchener moustache but, hey, who needs one after this amazing full-on tank driving experience?

The suspension is just too much for us, all 6ft 6 inches of it. Reign in the only purpose-built, dual-control, Rock Crawling monster truck in the whole world. Phew! That’s a lot of superlatives, but seriously, this road train is guaranteed to sate the most hardened of adrenaline junkies as suitably dramatic terrain like you’ve never seen before parts like the Red Sea before Moses. What’s that coming over the hill? It’s a monster truck and you’re driving it.
