Lamborghini facts
- Did you know that before businessman Ferruccio Lamborghini founded Automobili Lamborghini in 1963 he owned a successful tractor factory? Ferruccio went to meet Enzo Ferrari at the Ferrari factory to complain about the clutch on his Ferrari 250 and Enzo told him to stick to tractors, advice which somehow backfired.
- The first Lamborghini sports car was called the Lamborghini Miura, which was introduced by Ferruccio at the November 1965 Turin Auto Show. The Miura featured a transversely mounted engine and was named after a famed fighting-bull trainer. A four-seat version called the Espada was developed alongside Miura and named after the sword used by matadors during bullfighting.
- Lamborghini has changed hands several times - in 1978 when Lamborghini was bought by the Swiss-based Mimran brothers, in 1984 when Mimran sold the supercar company to the Chrysler Corporation (greatly responsible for the amazing Lamborghini Diablo), in 1994 when Chrysler sold Lamborghini to Megatech and finally in 1997 when Megatech sold it to Audi AG.
- The name Murciélago, a Lamborghini model produced since 2001, means "bat" in Spanish. A bull by the same name apparently survived 24 sword strokes in an 1879 fight at the arena of Córdoba, fighting with such ardour that the matador chose to spare its life, an honour seldom bestowed. Another famous bat, one Bruce Wayne, pilots a Lamborghini Murciélago in the latest Batman cinematic blockbuster, The Dark Knight.

I had a wonderful Lamborghini driving experience. The driving instructors were all very knowledgeble and friendly. I had a perfect driving day apart from when I had to give the cars back! I think I will try Ferrari driving next.
