Steam Locomotive Driving Taster Session 5 5 1 1
Boyhood dream comes true It was not quite the Flying Scotsman but you have to start somewhere. I had a really great taster session with Dave, Alan and John. They were really friendly and patient with their beginner and their enthusiasm came across well. The drive started with taking the loco to the water tank to top up. The fire takes 3 hours to start so they had been up early. After shunting round the yard we coupled up to a guards van and ran up along a short section of track with a steep incline and ran back and forth. I had three runs and another 3 were driven by the other trainee for the morning. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone who likes railways. 05 March 2013
