was treated to tea at kensington palace, which turned out to be tea at the thistle hotel,. this was a 20 to 30 minute walk out of the palace grounds, and down the bayswater road. A long way to go for tea after you have walked round the grounds and palace already. At the hotel, we provided out own teabags as there was no decaffinated tea on offer, and were given 1 plate. with 2 scones and one pot of cream and jam. the scones had been toasted to warm them up, which made them dry. The cream wasn't particulaly fresh either. As we were the only 2 in a large restaurant, there was no atmosphere. Would have been much better all round to have had tea in the orangery in the palace gardens. Dissapointed s the blurb with the gift indicated that the tea would actually be in the palace, not at a distant hotel.

Kensington Palace must rank as one of the poorest Royal attractions, no audio and very little narrative, which did not help. The decadent afternoon tea was a voucher at a mediorcre hotel elswhere, very miss-leading, and turned out to be bread and pastries past their 'best by' date. Person after us sent their sandwiches back claiming the bread was stale.

the palace was being refurbished, they tried to make it special but just wasnt right. The cream tea was the worsed experience Ive had, and Ive done a few. We were stuck out of the way couldnt see out of any of the windows. The staff were very unfriendly, We had to keep asking for water and milk. I dont drink tea so had coffee but was only given one cup. There were 10 of us and there was not enough sandwiches and cakes for us all. The scones were cheap shop brought and we had to ask for jam and cream.
