A Purr-fect gift A wonderful breezy but exceptionally warm October afternoon in Holmfirth. Looking over the gorgeous Yorkshire hills and moors with rows of recently harvested vines at Holmfirth Vinyard. Our host Luke was just fab. Passionate about his work and so engaging. You couldn't help being interested. The 1.5 hour tour and wine tasting session flew by as a happy group session with loads of questions answered well and with humorous anecdotes all thrown in for free. The location really cries out for a good weather day...and we got one! The restaurant is itself an interesting building and the afternoon tea was lovely. Not over faced with sweet stuff but 4 types if sandwiches and 3 types of sweets must surely please anyone. And of course the lovely glass of bubbly. Didn't need sugar in the fresh cream on top of the jam on top of the sweet fruit scone though. I got my essential decaf tea. (not available at lots of places I can tell you.....and I need it because of an acute sensitivity to caffeine. ) Overall score for experience, quality and enjoyment 10/10 02 November 2014
An enjoyable day out We particularly enjoyed the information about the hall, setting up the vineyards and explanations about the grapes during the tour. The walk was peaceful too. The winery proved interesting and the wine tasting was excellent. Afternoon tea was delicious and started the event off well. We were lucky enough to meet some lovely people during the afternoon and then took the opportunity to go to Cambridge. A really enjoyable experience purchased by our sons for their dad's birthday -taken late due to a really difficult few months so the perfect pick me up! 29 October 2014

Wine tasting We were surprised how good and informative it was. The guide wine maker was very entertaining and knowledgable.we learnt a lot more about the various vine varieties. After the tour we had a very enjoyable afternoon tea to round off the visit. We would certainly go on one of your tours again. 13 October 2014
Worthwhile Day Out Venue easy to find either map or sat-nav. Ample parking at venue. Arrived just before mid-day. Would recommended earlier arrival allowing an hour to visit the Roman site/visitor centre which is less than a mile from the vineyard and which you actually drive though anyway. Nice reception at the vineyard plus free tea/coffee. About thirty people on our tour. A brief intro from one of the owners and then a verbal input from the same out amongst the vines lasting about forty minutes. Our day was post harvest but the owner had thought to leave some grapes on the vines for his talk - nice touch. Back indoors for a brief input on bottling/corking and wine tasting and then the opportunity to taste and rate 5 of the wines they produce. After that sandwiches, scones and cake washed down with tea/coffee. Very informative but pleasantly delivered information by the owner, nice wine, nice food, good fun, nice way to spend a day. Wine may seem a bit pricey in the shop (other produce there too) but it is very good quality, no messing about with it and it is British! Whole event lasted about 3 hours. Definitely recommended. 13 October 2014
Fantastic relaxing afternoon The whole trip from start to finish was brilliant. The guide was informative, funny and engaging. The vineyard itself was set in beautiful surroundings and we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea to begin. Great value for money and an excellent present. 11 October 2014
Really enjoyable Great to visit a small vineyard and get an insight into the whole process. Was lovely that the actual owner gave us the tour and his enthusiasm was great and it was wonderful to hear all the little details of the planting processing bottling etc. Very informative and lovely wines to taste and afternoon tea. 11 October 2014
An enjoyable and informative treat My son and daughter in law bought me this for Christmas and I finally got to use it in early October. I thought I had left it late in the year but it was a lovely day and the vines were laden with grapes which were due to be picked the following week. The afternoon tea was delightful - especially with a glass of Chilford Hall sparkly! The tour of the vineyard was genuinely interesting and the guide was knowledgeable, informative and he made the tour good fun. Of course the wine tasting bit was the best part!! The whole tour, including the afternoon tea, took over 3 pleasant hours and made for an excellent day out. Really couldn't recommend this highly enough. I would even go again myself. One of my most favourite presents yet. 08 October 2014
Vineyard heaven This was the best tea and vineyard experience that we have encountered. The setting was superb and made extra special by a beautifully warm October day. Our ease in booking was matched by the warm welcome we received and the chance to choose to take our afternoon tea outside. The guide to the vineyard was informative and interesting explaining the process and procedure of producing wine with clarity and passion. It was thoroughly enjoyable 08 October 2014
Enjoyable afternoon Fantastic setting - an honest, unpretentious and very good humoured talk followed by a tasting of 3 of the winery's wines and a very nicely presented, tasty afternoon tea (inc sparking wine). No sales pressure whatsoever to buy the wines - just an engaging 'this is what we do' message and a warm Yorkshire welcome. 06 October 2014
