we went to the george hotel in huddersfield yorks today 24/5/2011 had a lovely afternoon we were looked after extremely well we had lots of sandwiches eg fresh salmon cheese,beef,egg, in both white and brown bread nicely presented also scones with butter jam and cream.We had fresh fruit and more cream ,followed by lemon cheese tart then the biggest piece of chocolate cake it was scrumptious also not forgetting a teepot for two. If you are given a voucher for tea for two i would definitely reccomend the George hotel .

I bought this for my little sisters eighteenth birthday. It was such a great price and we had a number of options, so opted for a lovely hotel in the Kent countryside. We dressed up and enjoyed sipping with our pinkies held aloft! With a good selection of sandwiches (cucumber or salmon), cakes and scones, it was a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Went to Coombe Abbey (Coventry) for the Best Ever GLUTEN FREE Afternoon Tea! Highly Recommend - All Freshly Baked!
Lovely place, very good staff and plenty of Fantastic Freshly Baked Home Made Food!
Sat in the very elegant Conservatory, you get:
Choice of a selection of Teas or Coffee, (free refills too)
Freshly prepared Sandwiches (3 kinds: egg cress and mayonnaise, smoked salmon with cream cheese & ham and homemade relish) with a variety of cakes (Carrot Cup Cake, Almond Tart, Chocolate) and Freshly Baked Scones with Cream and Jam.
They had no problem accommodating my Gluten Free version, in fact I think it was even better than my husbands’ normal version. As well as my version of lovely sandwiches as above, I had 2 big chunks of Ginger Cake and Chocolate Cake and a Giant Scone. (all shared with the hubby who said the cakes were great)
Can’t recommend the place enough for Gluten Free and normal afternoon tea.

What a disappointment! I had really looked forward to this as a birthday treat but we were served, cheese and pickle sandwiches on dry bread followed by bought in scones, pastries and cake. Plastic packages of jam & marmalade (marmalade for afternoon tea???) - didn't go down well; this was hardly high tea standard, what a let down.
