The surooundings were sumptuous as was the food. A 3 tier cake stand for each of us, sandwiches on top and 2 layers of cakes, scones etc. Plenty of tea and more hot water when required. The staff were very discreet and left us to chat without disturbing us (we were there for 2.5 hours!!) We sat on a comfy sofa in front of a lovely fire. We couldn't finish all the food but thought we'd ask for a doggy bag so we could enjoy them at home. Unfortunately we were told we would have to sign a disclaimer if we were taking food home, so we didn't bother!! It just took us by surprise. However, we didn't let it spoil a really lovely afternoon.
