Deluxe Afternoon tea for 2 at Chevin country club was anything but deluxe! All food served on one plate, scones at least a day old but soggy on one side where they had been next to the fruit on the plate. Sandwiches(of which there were only 3 very tiny ones) were made from cheap white bread, and I have never had cheese or ham served in white bread when having afternoon tea elsewhere. Cream was squirty cream not clotted and was begining to disintegrate when served to us. No napkins and only enough coffee for one small cup each. Fruit was just starting to go brown on the edges!!The whole plate of food had obviously been made up early morning. Stay away from the hotel altogether. The chefs need to go and have some training on what a good afternoon tea consists of. Both plates of food must have less than £5 to the hotel(and I am being generous at that!!!!)

Failed to meet expectations.

Our afternoon tea was at the New Park Manor in the New Forest, so we were expecting a sumptuous selection of sandwiches & cakes served up in sumptuous surroundings with a lovely view. Upon arrival we were shown to what we initially thought was a waiting area just up the stairs from reception only to realise that this was the space reserved for us (we discovered the main rooms were just downstairs, which we would have preferred). The food was enjoyable (what there was of it!), but we had no view to speak of and at one point 2 workmen even came through to commence hammering next door.
Upon leaving, we checked with the receptionist to see if we could walk around the garden , only to be shown the front door and discover that we could not access this without going back inside. By this point, we were so fed up we went home!

Nothing deluxe about it

Disappointed

This was certainly not a deluxe tea! The surroundings were however good and the scones were warm. But ,they were served with whipped, not clotted, cream. There were no sandwiches, and the only items given in addition to the 2 scones were 3 types of cake (2 of each), which looked like they had come from a supermarket. They were a shrivelled lemon drizzle cake, a very poor, dry pound cake, and a piece of fruit loaf. After being served these items initially we were not given any further attention. The venue was Penmaenuchaf Hall Hotel in Gwynedd - don't waste your voucher there!
