I received this gift as a 50th birthday present and went to the Newcastle Wine School with my husband. There were about 18 other people in the class. We had six different wines to taste; three white and three red. The classroom presentation was very interesting and informative; we learnt about the different grapes and the types of soil and climate for growing them, the effects different grapes have on the finished taste of the wine and the best way to purchase and store the wine. The wines themselves were very palatable and came with tasting notes and information on where to purchase. The course/tasting lasts two hours and was very good indeed. In fact we have since been back for the champagne tasting; I would recommend Newcastle Wine School to anyone.

I bought this for my brother & sister-in-law and the called me afterwards to say what a fantastic time they'd had.
The lady running the session gave them an introductory talk about what to 'look' for when tasting the wines, etc and there were six wines in total to taste & deliberat over. The group rated each wine individually, all the scores were collated and then the 'winner' was decided (apparently it was an Argentinian Red, the cheapest wine of the lot!)
They went to the event in Birmingham and thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I really don't know how I'm going to top it this Christmas!

Good evening. Informative. Taught us how to taste the wine correctly. But there was, on each of the six tastings, a shortage of wine so that a couple of people were left without tasting it. Excellent venue. Will go back.
