Treat yourself to a majestic afternoon floating along the gorgeous banks of the Thames with this picnic cruise. Taking in the most-inspiring sights of Oxford town and the surrounding countryside, you can relax on the water in the stunning surrounds of a charmingly outfitted cruise boat - your gourmet picnic, composed of only the freshest and most enticing local ingredients, is the perfect accompaniment to a serene journey down the picturesque byways of Oxfordshire's countryside. What's more, you'll even receive a carafe of wine to enjoy with your lunch.
Your delightful picnic cruise departs from Folly Bridge at 12.30pm. You'll travel through the city past famous landmarks including Christchurch College, the University boathouses and regatta course, the Head of the River and Folly Bridge itself. From the river you'll take in a side of Oxford's heritage rarely seen by visitors to the city: Quaint Osney Island, well-loved allotments, gardens and the ancient Port Meadow - all of which are off the tourist trail but represent some of Oxford's most beautiful and intriguing scenery. Port Meadow, a vast area of common land, has remained little changed since prehistoric times and supports plants and bird-life in abundance.

At the top of Port Meadow is Godstow. Godstow was the ultimate destination of Alice Liddell and Lewis Carroll when they followed an identical route to our trip while composing 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. It is also the site of Trout Island, an inspiration for another of Oxfords literary icons, C S Lewis, and his stories of the land of Narnia.

Your cruise will last approximately two and a half hours. The gourmet picnic lunch you'll be treated to will be locally sourced from the finest Oxfordshire suppliers, and due to its seasonality, will vary with the time of year. You will also receive a refreshing carafe of wine to enjoy with your lunch. Vegetarians and other dietary restrictions will can be catered to - please mention them when booking.

This experience is available at Oxfordshire:

Location: Oxford
Age: 55-64
Bought by: Wife
Occasion: Birthday
We went on this cruise recently, I brought it as a gift for my Husbands Birthday. I have to say it was a lovely trip, very relaxed and a nice way to get to know new people as the boat is quite small and intimate. This Would make a lovely afternoon out for the family. The day we went was beautiful and sunny but a bit cold, blankets are provided which is a nice touch. Lunch was provided by the new restaurant which is not the usual supplier, we got the best deal by far, the food was excellent. A friend of mine went on a previous trip and was not impressed with the food! Ours was beautiful, plenty of it and very nicely presented,we definately got a good deal.
