Afternoon Tea for Two at Alexander House Hotel
Not as good as expected
Lovely setting and already fans of the spa and expected a high standard. Elegant crockery, but the afternoon tea lacked the finesse and quality of other hotels in the same star bracket. Odd selection of meat in the sandwiches, reminiscent of 'tinned ham' and the cake selection was poor. Stodgy, especially the carrot cake and a mundane selection. No fruit tart or similar. The profiterole tasted as if it had been iced with nutella! Five cakes for two people. No hot water to accompany the tea and we saw no member of staff until we had finished, to ask for any.
A real shame, as we were looking forward to it and had high expectations. We will not have afternoon tea here again, as there are better hotels that provide excellent afternoon teas and service.
