This unique Keeper for a Day experience is perfect for anyone who’s ever wondered what it would be like to work with animals. You’ll spend an unforgettable day learning about the life of a zoo keeper, from preparing food and feeding the animals to devising activities and mucking out the enclosures. You’ll be able to meet penguins, giraffes, primates, meerkats and big cats – so whatever your favourite animal, you’ll love this amazing day out at ZSL London Zoo. This experience is a great way to get behind the scenes at ZSL London Zoo. During the day you will be able to take part in a variety of activities, ranging from mucking out enclosures, preparing food, devising enrichment activities and feeding and meeting animals including penguins, giraffes, primates, meerkats and big cats. You will also receive lunch during the day, as well as morning and afternoon refreshments. This experience runs from 8:45am – 3:45pm.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months for one person. This experience runs from 8:45am – 3:45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You will be in a group of up to five people. Minimum age is 16 years. Participants should wear practical, hard-wearing clothes suitable for the outdoors. Morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch, a t-shirt, bag for life, certificate, free car parking plus 20% discount on entry tickets for spectators is also included with this experience. Sturdy shoes or boots should be worn that are suitable for wearing in mud. This experience is not available to pregnant women or those who have given birth within the last six months. All dates are subject to availability.

I received this experience as a Christmas present and booked it in February. From zoo-keeper duties like cleaning out the zebras and preparing feed for the bearded pigs to hand-feeding tigers and having a penguin attached to my shoe-laces, my most fabulous highlight had to be feeding the lemurs... you sit in their enclosure and they jump all over you grasping your fingers while shovelling grapes down their furry necks - such a surreal, amazing moment.
Myself and the other 2 keepers-for-a-day got to do a lot more than what was stated on the info page as well, including feeding pirannhas with a behind scene tour of the aquariu!!
I would state to anyone who was interested - just do it! You would not regret it!
