See behind the scenes at one of the UK’s premier big cat collections as you shadow a Big Cat Keeper for a day. The savage beauty of these majestic beasts has captivated people for centuries but now you can get to see the hard work that goes into ensuring they are happy and well in captivity. Including an opportunity to feed the animals by hand through the bars of their cage, this is a once in a lifetime chance to get up close and personal with Lions, Tigers and Cheetahs.
Your experience starts at 9am and you will take part in food preparation, cleaning out, enclosure maintenance and the other elements that make up the keeper’s day. After lunch at one of the onsite catering outlets, it’s your chance to hand feed a big cat through the bars of the cage. After 2pm you are free to explore the rest of the park and view the many interesting and rare animals on display.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months . This experience is suitable for anyone over 18 years old and is available only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is a one to one experience, groups can not be admitted. Spectators are welcome and can purchase standard admission (£14.00) at the gate. Please check that you are up to date on your tetanus inoculations (this can be verified by your GP). Please inform the zoo of any allergies that may be aggravated by working with animals or of any special needs. You are advised to wear old clothes and dress according to the weather as you will spend most of your day outside. Please note that there is no physical contact with the big cats in this experience. The food preparation session is not for the squeamish.

This was an absolutely fantastic experience, the park was small but had plenty to see and do, the facilities were excellent, as for the actual experience, well where do I start, firstly the keeper (Steve) was so friendly and made us feel welcome as did the reception staff, he was very knowledgable about all the cats, not just the species but also the individuals at the park, you could tell that he loved being a keeper with a passion. Everything was explained clearly and in simple terms and you really got into the role, not just watching what was going on. The highlight was obviously hand feeding Rocky and Indi the two tigers, to get so close to these amazing creatures was a unique experience never to be forgotten. Steve was very patient and let us take as much time as we liked to take photos and be with the animals and the people that came with us could engages as well and were not left on the sidelines. As an experience, it was one I will never forget and would recomend to anyone with a love for Big Cats.

A grand day out!

After receiving a very warm welcome, we met our keeper Steve who took us on a very entertaining & educational hands on tour of the big cats. With the highlights being feeding the tigers by hand plus entering the cheetah enclosure, with every oppurtunity to take some excellent photographs.

I recently went on the Shadow a Big Cat Keeper Experience (Weekday) at Paradise Wildlife Park. It really was the experience of a lifetime!
The staff at the park were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The experience itself was even better than I had imagined and I was thrilled to find that I could get even closer to the cats than I had anticipated.
It has been an ambition of mine to touch a big cat, though I never really expected to be able to fulfill it. Well, not only have I now done that, but I have also had my hand licked by both a tiger and a lion! In all, I was able to get close to 9 types of big cat, all of whom seemed happy and well housed.
I would heartily recommend this experience to anyone - it was worth every penny and I know that I will be doing it again.

Wow - I bought this gift for my husband but I enjoyed most of the experience also. Preparing the food and cleaning out the animals was not top of the list but when it came to getting up close and personal that was amazing. Feeding the two tigers by hand was more than my husband could have imagined and that was followed by a close encounter with the cheetahs. The knowledge of the keeper was exceptional and although a cold and miserable day every attempt was made to make it special
