Try gliding and experience the extraordinary sensations of speed and silence that come from flying in one of these spectacular and graceful craft. Your trial lesson will last between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the weather conditions in which time you will learn how to turn and manoeuvre the glider and perhaps even have a go at taking the controls yourself.
The activity takes place in a dual controlled glider accompanied by a fully qualified instructor. Please note that at the Warwickshire location a self launching glider is used. On arrival at the venue you will be given a safety briefing then it 's up, up and away! The glider will be towed into the air by a powered aircraft or winch up to a height of around 2000ft and then released to soar over the beautiful countryside. Your instructor will demonstrate the controls of the glider and you may have a go at flying it yourself if you wish. Please note that gliding is extremely weather dependent; it is impossible to predict the length of your flight but it should last between 15 and 30 minutes. Every effort will be made to ensure that you get the best and safest flight for the conditions.

  • Northamptonshire (Midlands) - Nr. Hinton in the Hedges
  • Oxfordshire (South West) - Banbury
  • Powys (Wales) - Brecon
  • Warwickshire (Midlands) - Stratford Upon Avon
Your voucher is valid for ten months. Please note that this experience is weather dependent; please contact your chosen location on the morning of your flight to check that it is still going ahead. Trial lessons are available to those over 14 years of age (although under 18s must be accompanied by an adult). Minimum height restriction 4ft 6, maximum height 6ft 3 and maximum weight 15 stone. Spectators are welcome. The Oxfordshire gliding club has a converted glider to allow the physically disabled to learn to fly - please ask for further details.

It was a great experience, especially as the glider was powered, so I had the benefit of both a powered take off, a very large area of gliding, and that wonderful silence when the engine is turned off. The pilot was really nice with plenty of information about the sights below, and the chance to have a go at flying the glider... first class day out and a great gift

Nothing can compare to this gliding experience I just had! Flying soaring through the sky with only the wind to propel you - it was such freedom and I think I'm hooked! Can't wait to get up there in a glider again!

I had a wonderful time on my gliding discovery flight so thank you buyagift for giving my husband the idea of buying it for me! It's amazing being up in the sky knowing that you haven't got an engine propelling you very exhilarating and so quiet. My instructor was excellent really an expert and I even got the chance to take the controls myself for a little while very exciting!
