Bath Spa and Tea for Two at Homewood Park
What a super gift
Had a super day in Bath. Traffic was a nightmare both in and out of Bath for no apparent reason. Lovely sunny day just made the whole experience magical. We parked in corn street car park and went straight to the Thermae Baths. What a great experience. It was busy but there was plenty of room as people moved around from the beautiful rooftop pool, to steam rooms, to Minerva waft around and jacuzzi pools. We then did a bit of shopping in the wonderful shops of Bath. Just enough time to head out to the peaceful Homewood Park hotel for delicious afternoon tea. Could have done with more tea and / or hot water. Very obliging when we asked for more though. Only complaint was the dreadful finger sandwich bread and the burned rock hard scones. Nice cakes and tea though. Came away reluctantly, stuffed and happy with our day.

Lovely leisurely ladies' day out
A lovely combination of soaking, swimming and steaming in what has to be one of the most iconic spa locations, followed by sumptuous afternoon tea in a beautiful country hotel on the edge of Bath.
This gift experience is ideal for a couple for a romantic and relaxing day together, or for a ladies' pampering day, which was how we used it. To get the best out of the experience you need to check out how to get from the city centre to the hotel, which is in itself a lovely drive, just outside the city, with scenic views en route. When booking tea allow generous time to get back to your car and drive to Homewood Park so that your day continues to flow in the same relaxed way.
It's best to have this experience on a weekday if you are able, to avoid the weekend queues to get into the Thermae Spa. If not, arrive as early in the day as possible. You can hire robe, towel and slippers for an extra fee or take your own. Lockers are free to use and there is a cafe where you can charge your drinks, etc. onto your Smart wristband that also unlocks your locker.
It doesn't matter if the weather is wet or cold, as the rooftop pool is warm and we felt truly decadent basking in the jacuzzi bubbles overlooking the Bath skyline on a chilly January afternoon. We loved this pool best of all and felt truly relaxed lounging in it, supported by floats. On the next level down are four steam rooms, each with their own fragrance. As I moved from one to the next it was difficult to decide which was my favourite, as all smelt so wonderful! The tropical rain shower in the centre of the room housing the steam rooms was excellent and a welcome break in between sampling the differently scented steam rooms.
We finished our visit with a shorter time in the Minerva Pool on the ground floor. This is an indoor pool with a jacuzzi area, and has loungers around the pool if you prefer to stretch out with a good book. On the same level are showers with shower gel provided. The changing cubicles are upstairs, with mirrors and hair dryers provided around the edges of that area, to enable you to make yourself look lovely ready for your afternoon tea. You are allowed an additional 15 minutes to get dried and dressed, on top of the 2 hour spa session.
Next the tea! This was a truly amazing experience! Homewood Park is a beautiful old building in a lovely location. As soon as we walked through the door we felt relaxed and pampered. The staff were friendly and welcoming and showed us into a warm, inviting lounge with squishy sofas, plenty of cushions, magazines, tea lights and log fire. The afternoon tea was fabulous - it comprised three different finger sandwiches, huge scones with cream and jam, home made carrot cake, chocolate nut brownies and a tiny lemon and passionfruit dessert. Yummy! To wash it down there was a superb choice of leaf teas or coffee, some of which we had never heard of but which tasted amazing! Such a treat! Our waiter really looked after us, bringing us hot water to top up our tea pots and wrapping up the cakes that we just couldn't manage. The whole experience felt unrushed and a very enjoyable way to end our pampering experience.
