On the night of 16 May 1943 nineteen Lancasters took off on a daring raid deep into Germany. On the bombing run an exact height of 60 feet had to be held. This flight will take you through the beautiful Peak District covering Chatsworth House, the Mam Tor rock formations and Lady Bower reservoir/Derwent Valley where the RAF trained for the Dam Buster flights during World War II. You can learn about this unique moment of aviation history as well taking in views of outstanding natural beauty.

Your experience begins with a full safety briefing. The aircraft used will be a Bell 206 Jet Ranger Helicopter or larger. Flight time is approximately 30 minutes. Tea or coffee is included and spectators are welcome to attend and take photographs.

My dad is really interested in WWII and is always reading something about it, so we sent him on the Dambusters Helicopter Tour so he could get some firsthand experience. He really enjoyed his helicopter flight and hearing all about the Lancasters' flight, he said the views were incredible too.

I managed to resist humming the Dambusters theme for the whole time on this helicopter trip - quite an acheivement! All jokes aside, it was a brilliant tour flying over all the sights and finding out about the wartime fighter pilots and the RAF training that went on over here.
