The hotel is much bigger than we expected. The castle is set within the ruins of another castle which you are encouraged to walk around and explore. There are approximately 20 tame peacocks that roam the grounds.
We explored the castle, the grounds and the local village where there is also a lot to see from the old courthouse which is now a bank, the old church and an old prison which you can take a tour of. The locals are very friendly and told us about the history of the village and where to go.
The food in the restaurant was delightful and the service from the staff in the restaurant and bar was very good.
We will definately be returning to Ruthin Castle and have already recommended it to our family and friends. The photos on the website do not do it justice - it's an absolute bargain for what it is!
