Astronomers divided the sky into areas, as perceived from earth, so as to create a consistent spherical map, rather like the markings on a football. In this way, 88 areas or constellations were formed. Only a handful of stars bear names, arising from Arabic, Greek and Roman mythology. The vast majority of stars are referred to only by their astronomical co-ordinates or catalogue numbers, they are unnamed and there are millions and millions of them. So why not name one after someone special?
This tin includes an introductory letter and registration card, an A4 star area coordinates sheet showing the location of your star, a map of the night skies poster and a guide to the Northern constellations book. On placing your order, the gift will be dispatched to the address of your choice within 5 working days. We are unable to guarantee a delivery date. We suggest you get it delivered to a work address as it won’t fit though a letterbox. Please note this is a novelty gift and stars retain their scientific name. This product can only be delivered to UK mainland addresses. Please note that due to personalisation this item cannot be refunded.

I was looking for unusual gifts for my daughter's 18th birthday. I needed something special and unique then someone suggested I name a star after her! It was so easy to do through buyagift - the gift pack arrived so quicklyl She was really impressed with it so I'm happy.

My mother bought us this name a star gift when my little girl her first grandchild was born. I thought it was a lovely gesture and such a nice idea to have a star named after baby Lily. We got an attractive personalised certificate which is up on the wall in Lily's nursery. Supposedly we could find her star using the co-ordinates but not sure our astronomy's up to it!
