We will offset the carbon from our experiences by a factor of four.
To do what we can to make a difference.
Since 2009, Buyagift has prevented the destruction of 472 acres of pristine, but endangered, rainforest and a staggering 122,807 tonnes of Carbon dioxide emissions.
The threatened rainforest that Buyagift is protecting is located in the Rio Ené valley of Peru. This is the western frontier of deforestation in the Amazon Basin and uniquely rich in biodiversity.
This commitment has, to date: Halted the clearance of 110,526 trees. By directly supporting the local indigenous Ashaninka Tribe, Buyagift has ensured that the forest is being looked after by the best possible custodians.
As well as funding Ashaninka rangers to protect the forest, Buyagift has improved livelihoods throughout the community.
We're proud to announce that we now offset four times the carbon created by the experiences we sell and by the day to day running of our business.
How are we doing it?
Having researched Carbon offsetting schemes for some time we came to the conclusion that one of the best ways of achieving meaningful results was to help protect existing rainforest that was in imminent danger of deforestation.
Working in conjunction with Coolearth.org (registered charity number 1117978), we've calculated the carbon footprint of the experiences that we sell, from Aston Martin driving to Helicopter Flying lessons.
From the 1st January 2009 we have offset the carbon that these experiences create by a factor of four. By offsetting this carbon by a factor of four we are positively contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and not simply offsetting the carbon our business and its associated activities create.
In our view it was only by taking this positive approach that we would actually be making a difference.

From an internal business perspective we have
introduced a number of measures to ensure that our carbon footprint is minimised wherever possible. From environmentally friendly gift packaging to switching off computers at night and using energy saving light bulbs, where possible we are doing what we can.
We're also helping to fund Cool Earth's community projects that support the local community and enable local people to earn a sustainable living from the rainforest.

to Cool Earth has been encouraging her friends and cohorts to
spread the word. This resulted in further donations from Kate
Moss, Sadie Frost, Lily Cole and Storm modeling agency to name
but a few. The No Fun Being Extinct Campaign hit the radar of
Conde Nast, which has shortlisted it for an environmental
