Two Night Break at The Mercure Hull Royal Hotel
Wonderful surprise gift
Surprise gift from our Daughter,. We had a wonderful time at the Royal Mercure Hull, we had a lovely room and breakfast and staff couldn't have been nicer. We booked two extra nights making it a four night beak even the weather was kind to us. We also had a lovely afternoon tea before we set off for home. We would definitely recommend this Hotel .

Absolutely lovely time. Hotel was brilliant, room very clean and comfortable, evening meal in restaurant was beautiful, breakfast very good choice, even did my porridge for me when I requested it, location fantastic, just over the road from the town.
Overall thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Will go again.

Beautiful hotel, fascinating city, excellent value
We received a voucher for two nights' B&B as a gift, and as York wasn't on the list of available hotels we picked Hull, purely so we could visit York on the way home. We were surprised and pleased to find that we had underestimated both the Mercure Royal and the city of Hull! The hotel was beautiful and interesting - past visitors include Queen Victoria and Philip Larkin - and the location couldn't have been more central, backing directly on to the train station, and with free parking too! The reception area is huge and tastefully decorated, although the armchairs feel a bit tired and are too low to use comfortably when eating a bar meal. Rooms are standard, clean and comfortable, and food excellent, but what really stood out were the staff, who were without exception polite, pleasant and helpful.
The city of Hull turned out to be a gem, if you're willing to look. Wonderful pubs steeped in history, lots of free museums and galleries, and some fabulous architecture, including the Maritime Museum, the Punch Hotel and of course the Humber bridge. Half an hour spent at the viewing area in Barton-on-Humber is strangely relaxing and well worth the trip - take a picnic. Happily our visit also coincided with the tail-end of Hull's Freedom festival, where the music, real ale and atmosphere were fantastic. In the end we didn't bother going to York!

A lovely city.
My wife and I had never been to Hull, which is why we chose to stay at the Mercure Royal Hotel.
The moment we entered the hotel, the reception we received made us believe that Hull was a warm and friendly city - even though we had not yet set foot outside the doors to explore the area. The same attention was given to us when we entered the dining room. We were greatly impressed by the service and the standard of food with which we were presented. The presentation of the food can only be described as "artistic" - and the food tasted as good as it looked! I am sure that the staff tired of hearing us make the comment that it was "delicious!
We thought the city was beautiful, and we are sure that we will return one day, andnwemwill certainly head straight for the Mercure Royal Hotel.
