Two Night Break at Durley Dean Hotel
Fathers Day Gift
The gift is a great idea and gave us a chance to have a couple of days away. The Durley Dean Hotel in Bournemouth was a bit of a disappointment. The room was overlooking an internal roofed area. The small window in the bathroom opened 4 inches, as did one window in the main room. The other sash window had been painted over so many times it could not be opened. All this during a 30 degree heatwave made it impossible to sleep. We even considered coming home early because of it. On the day of arrival the bar was supposed to be open at 11am but was not open by 1.45pm. To their credit, the staff were pleasant, the breakfast was very god, although dinner was expensive when we went 100yards down the road and got it for half the price. When we mentioned the stifling heat in the room they did supply a small fan. I suppose the truth is that we are all so used to going abroad to brand new hotels that when we go to dated Hotels built 100 years ago, they just cannot compete. Shame really because apart from that we enjoyed our days away.
