One-on-One Indian Cookery Course
A Cooking Revelation
Being half Indian and having my mum chastise me for a lack of Indian cooking knowledge this seemed an ideal opportunity. While I dont cook Indian food from a ready sauce, I do rely on Indian takeaways and cheat pastes to satisfy my spice needs. The whole thought of cooking from scratch using spices seemed to be a dark art and painfully long.
After booking my experience; Ren and the team, sent out a possible menu of lots of tasty treats, that I could cook. I chose 1 starter, two mains, a side dish and an accompaniment. Ren sensibly advised me that my side (chick peas massala) and my main (chicken curry) could be made using the same recipe, so I would gain more from cooking a different dish. She helped me choose one to suit my tastes and needs.
Upon arriving i was offered a cup of tea and had a brief chat before getting stuck in. With the guidance of the very lovely and knowledagble Sheila, I was soon cooking and learning how to make some of my favourite dishes. What I soon learnt is most of my dishes were really easy to prepare and cook within 30 mins. My takeaway takes longer to deliver and is not as tasty. There were all sorts of tips and I wont give them away, but by the time I had finished, I felt truly empowered and had loads of food for me and the family to try.
I even let my mum try who was very cynical. After finishing the food, she was amazed. Apart from it being tasty, it was also really light on the stomach. None of that heavy oil feeling, often associated with big meals.
Within two days I was cooking big batches of the base stuff that will allow me to prepare a curry in 20 mins any day of the week.
I defy anyone to be disappointed with this experience!

'Best Birthday Present Ever'
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday and he said it was the best gift he'd ever had. He received lots of information beforehand and the chance to choose the dishes he wanted to make on the day. He chatted with the chef on the phone about his cooking style and likes/dislikes. On the day he learnt all about different spices and methods of Indian cooking and made loads of different dishes all of which he brought home with recipe cards and spices. He had a fantastic day and said it was truly the most amazing present - highly recommended!
