Reckon you could give Jamie or Nigella a run for their money?
Would you like to help us raise some money for a leading UK Food Bank charity? We have just the thing...
Times have never been tougher than in recent years, and many of us have found ourselves needing to stretch the food budget to make it last. To show just how difficult it can be to feed our families on a limited budget, we have teamed up with leading food charity The Trussell Trust, to bring you the Buyagift £3 Challenge!
Between the 15th November and 15th December 2013, we will be asking you to prepare a delicious meal for a minimum of two people - without exceeding a tricky £3 budget.
The more creative you can be without overspending, the greater the chance you'll have of winning a delicious meal for two at a top London restaurant, a gourmet cooking lesson - and we'll also throw in a spa day for two. In support of the great work they do in the wider community, we will also be donating £600 to the Trussell Trust on behalf of the winner!
The winning meal will receive:
Remember: While we have specified that the meal needs to be a minimum of one course, we may give you extra kudos for
creating more than one dish - but ONLY if it is still creative, and within the budget.
The Trussell Trust empowers local communities to combat poverty and exclusion in the UK and Bulgaria. In the UK their foodbank network fed 355,000 in the six months from April to September, three times the number fed in the whole of the previous year. Each of those people had hit crisis point and found themselves with no money for food. This may be because of redundancy, benefit delays, domestic violence or simply receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks supply enough food to last for three days and point clients in the direction of other services that can help. Working with churches and community groups their ultimate aim is to open a foodbank in every community that needs one. Find out more at www.trusselltrust.org.
This competition is open to everybody over the age of 16 in the UK and Ireland.
