Get up close and personal with these wise, graceful and beautiful birds on an unforgettable owl experience in Derbyshire. You’ll arrive at the centre in the gorgeous Derbyshire countryside and meet an expert guide, who will briefly you on safety precautions for the day, before taking you to meet the birds. The centre houses a variety of types of owl and you’ll learn about all of them and hear how these magnificent creatures live, what their eating habits are, their wingspans, flying speeds and other fascinating facts. The instructor will then show you how to hold and handle the birds and give you a glove with food, so that you can try flying an owl to your own hand! There is nothing quite like feeling the power of the extraordinary birds for yourself. This is a great gift for anyone fascinated by owls or birds of prey in general and will create a lifetime of memories!

Fantastic owls

Beautiful birds obviously extremely well cared for. Very well run 2 hour experience with their owls. Plenty of opportunities to hold the owls. Lots of explanation & information.

Fantastic day out, got up close to owls and learned what was a myth and what was factual. Also learned about general bird population behaviours which were experienced during the day - educated in an engaging and friendly way.

Right from contacting the Falconry the service was fantastic, we were able to book on an experience as required. All instructions were clear and correct. The couple at the Falconry were so welcoming and made us feel at ease right from the beginning. They were clearly passionate about all the birds, they were approachable to ask questions, fantastic interaction. The aviaries were beautiful, very clean, the birds were all so well cared for and loved that was clear to see. The Owls were stunning, I learnt so much from the experience and had lots of opportunity to hold/ fly the birds. I would definitely arrange this experience again.

We booked the owl experience and were so lucky to be the only ones on it that day. We had the undivided attention of Ben and Lisa from start to finish. Our daughter was a bit apprehensive but she was put at ease by the team and really enjoyed it. Although it was an owl experience we also met Frank the kookaburra which was an absolute delight. All the birds were in fantastic shape and a lovely time was had by us all. Thank you so much for a great couple of hours, we wont hesitate to book again.

I really enjoyed this experience! It was far more hands on than I expected as I got to fly 4 different owls. The falconer was very experienced and engaging. I would highly recommend this gift.

This was a birthday gift that I have been waiting for and was well worth the wait! From the introduction by Bob before we met the birds, through two fascinating hours of information on all aspects of life with them and being allowed to fly owls was just the icing on the cake. My husband came along as a spectator and felt included even though it was not his experience! As many photos as we wanted to take and throughout, all aspects of life with the owls and other birds explained in detail. A brilliant day out and a great gift which I would recommend to any owl fanatic.

The staff at the centre in Derbyshire were very welcoming and so knowledgeable! They made us feel at ease and welcomed all questions, no matter how silly they seemd. The group size was small (9 people flying the owls) and we all got two goes flying each of the owls (there were 4 different ones being flown, plus a kookaburra). Spectators were encouraged to take lots of photos and were made to feel a part of the group- the only thing they couldn't do was fly the owls. It was a memorable experience and perfect for any owl enthusiast.

The whole experience was very enjoyable and Bob very knowledgeable. The party was quite large - 9 with additional spectators and although it may have slowed the process slightly it did not affect the enjoyment as each person had more than enough time with each owl.
Bob gave plenty of information about each of the owls being handled and also all the other owls he and his wife look after.
What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.
As it is on a working farm there are also other animals to look at free of charge and a small garden centre with a lovely cafe serving home made food.
