Worst Afternoon Tea Ever

Bear in mind we are both 75 years old and my wfe is in a wheelchair suffering with MS .We were told when booking that the wheelchair would not be a problem . On arrival a member of staff came out to "vet "my wifes need for a ramp, which only covered two steps of the three leaving a difficult manoeuvre to get in . Once I attracted attention we were shown to a small table in a passageway that was the main thoroughfare for residents and members using the spa . This evidently was the "CONSERVATORY " with a view of our car in the car park .There was no disabled toilet !! We were firstly brought our tea followed by the rest . Two thin fingers each of four varieties of sandwich , several of which were drying out at one end , two scone of totally different sizes , four pieces of cake of which one was burnt and two nondescript pink meringues . our disasatisfaction should have been registered then but members of staff were not to be seen until we had finished and asked for the ramp to be put down to go home . the ramp was placed over THE TOP TWO STEPS consequently forming a diving board over the bottom step . I had to place the ramp correctly myself . Inour numerous years we have had many afternoon teas from top London restaurants to local garden centres and nowhere have we had such a misleading venue with such poor service and value for money .

A little dissappointed

voucher gift to my wife from friends to celebrate her 70th birthday. we have in the past visited several prestigious venues to sample their cream teas. Of them all this was the least impressive. Minute portion sizes (never seen scones so small!) which completely crumbled when cut, a modicum of jam but lashings of cream. Lemon drizzle cake and chocolate slice very similar to a well known cake producer in appearance and size, however quite delicious. Th finger sandwiches again were very nice, but I would describe them as little finger sarnies! Once the cream tea was served to our table we were not visited again by any staff member to enquire if all was well, or if we needed a tea refill or anything else We were given the choice of a very darkened dining room, or the conservatory. We chose the conservatory which turned out to be a corridor between two parts of the building, Our table very close to the toilets, convenient for some, but not totally desirable. Not a venue we would consider ourselves, as there are far better ones available for a few pounds extra.
