Wivenhoe Hotel is set in the beautiful grounds of Essex University character property with modern clean interior we had an excellent afternoon tea everything made on site and of a high quality more than enough for us definitely coming back

Staff service from reception to the restaurant was second to none. Tea was delicious with great veggie options. Even bought a treat for my birthday.

Nice venue in countryside surroundings. Seated at table for two between the waiter station and the window. Lots of noise from the waiter station and a window view of nothing except a large marquee size gazebo used for storing tables and chairs.
Our afternoon tea was served and looked attractive with a silver pot and three tier cake stand and complimentary mocktail however we were supposed to have Prosecco which never arrived.
The bottom tier contained 2 sausage rolls and 8 sandwiches which were ok, with thick bread and butter not much filling. The middle tier had four scones , (2 fruit and 2 plain) which were good with plenty of cream and small pot of jam each. The top tier was for the special fancy cakes which provided lots of colour and looked very tempting.
We were one of the last tables to arrive and probably the last sitting. It was not a relaxing experience as the staff were moving tables and chairs and getting ready for the evening ahead.
