Rushed and Left Behind
21 February 2022
We were met by the tour guide and he vaguely introduced himself and told us to follow him. We were rushed up some stairs without him even checking the ability of the group. As someone with a knee injury I hadn’t even been given chance to explain this. I had used the lift to get down to the meeting space but not knowing where the tour was going I didn’t know the same lift would get me back to the start of the tour. So I felt like I had no choice but to follow. I struggled up the stairs and was now a significant way behind the group. When I caught up I had missed what he said and we set off walking to the front of the stadium. This was at a very fast pace. My injury doesn’t stop me walking but had I been given the chance to explain he may have slowed down the pace. As it was he was too far ahead for me to say anything. By this point I felt if this was how the tour was going I just wanted to stop and leave it. However, despite missing the next lot of info I carried on and the remainder of the tour was accessible. The areas we were shown were what I expected and wanted to see and the use of the hand held devices would’ve been informative except that we weren’t given enough time to actually view the videos on them. I went to the tour to see the stadium as an Olympics enthusiast as opposed to a West Ham fan, although I do like football and understood the tour would cover the latter more so. However the information does lead you to believe you see/much more about the Olympics than you actually do. It also says the tour lasts over 90 minutes but on arriving we were told just over an hour, which was the case and also I feel that this was why we were rushed around, in order to fit it in quicker.

Great Tour

I brought this as a present for my mum and she loved it. Lots of detail and history about West Ham and the Olympics whilst still being fun and engaging.

As a WHU fan this was a fab day out. Got up close to the pitch and went into areas like the changing rooms. Would recommend.
