Imperfect but great.

Pros Had an enjoyable and memorable night away Hot tub was lovely and felt very private. Yurt was spacious and reasonably spaced from any neighbours Owners were warm, friendly and approachable but not intrustive Fire pit, bbq, stove with kettle and drinking water, hamper with mugs, plates, etc, and cool box all provided Several food delivery options and two nearby pubs. Also taxi numbers provided at the site was a nice touch. There is a phone charging area along with some games and books. Cons Due to huge amounts of rain our yurt got a little wet on the floor and there were no towels or anything to mop up with (though the owners had made it all totally dry before we got there) The suitcase to store your belongings in smelled very damp and had a contained a lot of dead earwigs (which we didn't mind but some would) The bottle of fizz wasn't chilled so we had to go and buy ice to chill it. Noteworthy points! The bell tents seemed more spaced apart than the yurts. Also one particular bell tent is right next to the hot tub area so might be worth requesting it. In bad weather the site gets rather muddy due to the wild nature of it, and the yurt and bed felt (unavoidably) somewhat damp even with us taking dry bedding from home. The car park, toilets and showers are a short walk from the tents and yurt which will require a torch in the dark (torches supplied) Check in was 2pm and checkout 10am when we went. We took some battery powered fairy lights and lamps and were very glad of the additional lighting in the yurt and at the hot tub. Buy a gift is a good value way of purchasing the night away with hot tub. Bottom line: We had such a lovely time we are thinking of making it an annual trip, and we'll request the tent next to the hot tub next time!

worse gift ever
11 September 2019
This was a poor excuse for glamping. I camp every year in my trailer tent and that is glamping. A friendly greeting that went downhill fast. The yurt was in poor condition dirty and stained. There was only a bed 2 slat wooded bedside tables and 2 seats. The solar ligthing only lasted 30 mins and then we were in darkness. The hamper of plates, cups, glasses and cutlery needed cleaning before use. The outside area was tired with repaired picnic bench rusty bbq's and 2 deck chairs that were on their last legs. Why you would want this company on your gifts is beyond me. The hot tub probably was its saving grace. During the night we were attacked in our bed by earwigs and spiders I would not return and was pleased to leave by early morning. We understand the site has an eco ethos which in our opinion does not go with glamping. I have seen yurts and they usually are built up on wood stands and have wooded doors and do not have metal poles and a plastic ground sheet. I feel sorry for my son and daughter in law who have wasted money on this. It is advertised for £246 on offer at £99 at the moment. I just hope they paid the lesser of these 2 and that was still too much.

Romantic night away
31 August 2019
Booking process was okay...You have to submit some options for dates and wait for them to get back to you rather than just showing availability on the website. It's also a little unclear as to what is and isn't included with the voucher and even though we had stated an estimated arrival time previously, this was not passed onto the groundsman who was there to greet us. However, when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely gentlemen (I'm afraid I do not remember his name as this was some time ago now) who showed us to our yurt and a gave us quick tour of the site. We booked for a Monday which was outside of school holidays so we had the whole place to ourselves which made for a more enjoyable experience (some of the tents/ yurts are quite close together so if you are looking for a quiet romantic break avoid school holidays as I imagine it would feel a little chaotic when busy). We were contacted prior to our arrival by the groundsman who prepared the hot tub for us so it was already warming when we arrived. We spent the afternoon enjoying the peace and quiet and having a soak in the hot tub in the sun. We made use of the barbecue (we brought our own coal etc, plates, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided) then returned to the hot tub with our bottle of fizz for the evening however it was far too hot at this point to get in! We still enjoyed sitting on the edge enjoying the fizz in the calm surroundings. We had a peaceful nights sleep (we chose to bring our own bedding rather than pay for it to be provided) and then made use of the outdoor stove to cook ourselves breakfast where we were joined by a woodpecker! We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings and even got to see some of the wildlife too!

Be prepared for additional costs
24 August 2019
The venue was very good but it was a shame we had to add on extra costs to the initial gift. There was a supplement for booking summer holidays even when we were the only people staying on site the night we booked. Also charging extra for beddingis a bit mean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The tent was cosy and the hot tub was relaxing.

Our recent stay at Woodland escape couldn't have been more wonderful. Alfie, Jess and Ian were AMAZING hosts and ensured we had everything we could possibly need. The grounds are stunning and so well looked after. We had the most relaxing weekend ever with exclusive use of the wood fired hot tub and fizz on arrival! We cannot wait to go back and will be booking again for a return visit this week! We only wish we could have stayed longer and our next booking will be for several days!
