Weekend break
12 August 2019
Lovely hotel, although as old building there was a lot of squeaky floor boards above our room that did keep us awake for a while but room was very comfortable, clean and plenty big enough! Restaurant food was lovely but main meal selection was very poor so we opted to pay an extra £3 for rump steak, and was served beautifully but unfortunately the steak was rather tough, but at end of meal we when collecting plates we were then asked if all ok and when we replied “no” we where offered a replacement! So they did try but I think they could of taken surcharge off of the bill! But this was the only downer of the weekend as all staff were very accommodating and helpful! Not sure what hotel would be like when there is a wedding/event being held!

Very comfortable
27 June 2019
Dog friendly hotel( £20 per dog per night) however everyone was very accommodating and dog was welcome. Disappointing that a lot of the grounds have been built on, however easy access behind the hotel to the Tarn and ilkley moor which made it a good location for a large energetic dog. Lots of dog friendly pubs and restaurants in the area. The closest possibly being the Cow and Calf which is exceptionally dog friendly and has an amazing menu, not to mention views. The town centre within easy walking distance, again offers a number of dog friendly establishments. (It’s a bit of a pull back uphill to the hotel) Lovely circular riverside walks in the town centre. The hotel itself is under refurbishment, not that we heard any noise or were inconvenienced in any way. Our gift included a 2 course meal on the first night which was ok. We’ve done these breaks before and it was pretty much the same standard as offered elsewhere, a choice of approx 5 starters, mains and desserts. Breakfast is a hot/cold buffet with no surprises but more than adequate. I could not fault the staff, they did their utmost to make our stay easy and comfortable. Prior to arrival we were warned there was a function being held and there may be some noise. Yes, it was a teenage prom but the noise was minimal. Our room was on the second floor and double glazed, so despite overlooking some of the festivities, we were not disturbed. I read some poor reviews regarding tepid water and indeed on registration we were warned to allow the water to run for a few minutes. The water was certainly hot enough for showers/bath morning and evening. All together a most enjoyable and comfortable stay for a couple relatively new to holidaying with a dog. Thank you

Accommodation excellent

More than satisfied with accommodation, food quality and portions, also service was always friendly, courteous and helpful. Location ideal for town amenities as well as walking on the moors directly behind the hotel. Certainly good value.

Great hotel service but awful dinner experience
04 November 2017
We stayed at Craiglands from a Friday night through to a Sunday and had a great experience at the hotel. Room was well equipped and tidy, and the hotel itself was fantastic - really friendly staff, well maintained throughout, close to the centre of town (and what a beautiful town too). However, the dinner as part of this experience really let the hotel down. My partner is vegetarian, and we were disappointed to see only one vegetarian option on the menu on the Friday evening - pasta with creamed pesto. Not quite the gourmet meal we were expecting from the experience voucher or the hotel's own website. My partner can't eat cream, so we asked if any other options were available. The waitress very kindly checked with the chef, who said that a tomato sauce could be made for the pasta. We agreed to this. But when it arrived, it was clearly the tomato soup from the starter just poured over some pasta! No other vegetables, no spices or flavours, just overcooked pasta in tomato soup for a main course! Not very impressed at all. The meat options were little better, I had a flavourless piece of pork with a small helping of overcooked vegetables. Even the desserts were nothing exciting after all that. So we would recommend the Craiglands any time for a stay, it was a lovely hotel in a perfect location. Just eat somewhere else!

Great gift
06 October 2017
We were given this two night break with five other couples. We all attended the venue at the same time had a great time no problems or if there were they were quickly dealt with. The cleanliness in the bedroom for us was a little problem. Hairs in the bath and bad smell but moved to another room unfortunately the second room hasn't been cleaned well either the bin wasn't emptied and someone nighty which wasn't nice was left on the back of the bathroom door. Apart from that we had a great time. We did find that the overall experience was good but the drinks far too expensive and we left the hotel to go places cheaper as 25 pound a bottle of wine and over ten pounds for two drinks ridiculous
