Overview

Located in the Tamar Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Devon-Cornwall border - this small, family-run camping site is perfect for a break away from it all. Your cosy pod, insulated against the elements whatever the weather, is equipped with a light and a heater, and even has a deck and picnic table out the front. You can sit and gaze across at the views of stunning Dartmoor, and maybe plan a bracing walk. A handy shower block is located near the pods, so there’s no need for that grimy festival feeling. A communal freezer is provided to keep your sausages in, and the family will kindly inflate your airbed for you. There are plenty of wonderful walking opportunities around, and you may spot badgers and rabbits during your rambles. Take a short drive to charming Tavistock where you can stock up on supplies and visit some superb pubs, and you can step back in time at historic attraction Morwellham Quay, just a five minute drive down the road.

Great present!
14 July 2018
My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the pods for 2 nights in June. It was amazing! We wish we could have stayed for longer! We had brilliant weather which was a bonus. The pods were really clean. Ours came with a picnic table, heater, lamp and plug / USB sockets. You have a blind to cover the door for privacy and a little window at the back for some air. We took our air bed with as no beds supplied. The toilets are right behind the pods so no long walk to the showers and there’s hot water for washing up!!! They have a fridge / freezer for you to put your food in and they even have their own produce eggs etc in a separate fridge, should you wish to try (obviously for a small donation). Chickens are roaming free which is really lovely. They also have pigs and Shetland ponies on site. They allow BBQ’s and dogs but dogs must be kept on a lead the entire time. I would most definitely stay again! It’s just camping without the tent! Have already recommended family and work colleagues who loved the idea. The owners are really lovely too. They are at the end of the phone when you arrive, come out to meet you and show you around. So friendly and helpful. They have lots of leaflets for nearby attractions. Thank you for a fab weekend away.

Peas of pods
07 August 2017
Pleasant stay spoiled only by the fact the pods are situated too close together. No privacy or peace.

Glamping in Old Rectory, Devon
30 September 2014
A fun and enjoyable experience. The camping pods were well insulated and equipped with a heater and a lamp. The campsite owners were friendly and helpful. The campsite was in an ideal location to explore parts of Devon and Cornwall. Supermarket 10 minute drive away to buy food and disposable barbeques. Nearby Tavistock had several places to buy lunch/breakfast and to wander around the market.

Relaxing unwind
27 July 2014
A great place to relax and escape, but close enough to wonderful places. The welcome is lovely and the checking by the site management ( Clyde the dog) that everything is fine and dandy was great

Superb Pod!
24 July 2014
A really lovely campsite, not too big, very clean, very good showers etc. The owners & staff at The Old Rectory are very friendly & welcoming & have created a very good campsite. The pod is a great design, just bring your sleeping & cooking gear & your in business, no tent to pack up at the end of your holiday, superb! If you enjoy camping you will love it for a change & if you have never camped before, this is a really good introduction the great outdoors!

Best idea I've seen so far
06 September 2013
The most lovely site I've been to in years. Will definitely go back. The Old Rectory is a very green site and recycles where it can. BBQ are aloud anywhere around your pod as long as they are put on bricks as provided. The owners are lovely and very welcoming. The site is very good for children and animal lovers because they have live stock all around free running such as pigs, chickens and geese. The pods are lovely and stay nice and warm. There is a power point in them for phone charging etc in them. Tavistock is a five minute drive down the road which has a market most days of the week and a shops in the highstreet I would recommend this place to anyone. Have fun podding!!
