Britain has a wealth of exciting, terrifying and downright dirty history, much of which began on a ship just like the HMS Victory, and you can discover it all at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. The galleries will astound and amaze you as you unravel the secrets of Britain’s colourful maritime history, and you'll even get to climb on board a destroyer and a submarine! Lots to see and appreciate

Parking was easy, staff were helpful (especially when we lost our guide book). Guided tour inside the submarine was a highlight. As there's a lot to see, it's good that the admission ticket allows you to return whenever you wish during the following year.

I purchased an annual pass for my husband and I. We live locally and have two children under 5 (who get in free) My Kids loved the openness of the place, lots of places for them to run around. Loved the boats and playgrounds. Will definitely be going back lots this year.

Good value day out

We bought the dockyard tickets as we are local to the area. There was plenty to do with my 3 year old, he enjoyed the beach area, the pirates and the Lego exhibition. We will back to use our passes throughout the year.

We had a great day out. There as it opened and still there at 5 o'clock. We don't live in the area so made the most of the day. Would go back again if in the area. Guided tours definitely worth doing as you find out so much more. Wear go shoes for walking and non slip.

Great day out
17 July 2018
We went here as a family with our 2 sons (5 and 1 year old) as an extension of visiting digger land the day before. At first we wasn’t sure there would be enough to do vs the entry cost. However we were proved wrong and was there from 10 until 5:30 and still didn’t have time to see everything! The boats were great to walk around in and was a good display of life boats and military vechiles. The ropery was pretty interesting, with a tour person explaining the story. Lots of other things to see and do. Was so good I even purchased as a gift for my parents.

A great day out

This dockyard is well worth a visit if you enjoy the history behind it. It shows all the types of vessels built at Chatham from early to up to date. The layout of the dockyard is very easy to understand and does not take a lot of strenuous walking so is accessible to all. My one comment is to avoid the submarine tour if you are not very agile. You have to climb through round doors with a rather wide leg span.

Lovely day. We had a entertaining tour of the ropery and a tour inside a submarine; both included in ticket price. Also went on the Cavalier war ship which is used in alot of filming. A large collection of lifeboats is kept here.
