We have an amazing time. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly, and it was so good to be so close to these animals. The park does an fabulous job in giving these animals a much better lifestyle to what they were given initially - well done to all!

Amazing time

Covid regulations were good. Staff were friendly. Slightly difficult to book in, but given the current situation this is to be expected, as lockdown during peak season means I think everyone was trying to cram in once the Ark reopened. As to the experience itself, we really enjoyed it. Jamie who was the professional for the encounter was really knowledgeable and told us loads of new and interesting facts about foxes. We got to go into two pens, meeting four foxes...Sox, Shadow, lana and Dexter, and got to also see the new arctic foxes who arrived last week. Sox even let us both scratch behind his ears for a few moments which was a real unexpected bonus. The others were happy to come and investigate us and it was lovely to get close to these normally human - shy creatures. They are beautiful. We enjoyed our lunch too! Ark itself is well worth a visit, as they have lots of different exotic rescue animals , all of whom have their stories, many of them sad. They do great work here and we thoroughly enjoyed our day (and the cheeky goat who escaped his pen...the grass apparently is greener on the other side of the fence) We will visit again, for sure

Meet the Red Fox was great - as was everything else about the park
02 May 2019
Er indoors is totally besotted with foxes, so I bought the fox experience at the Ark Wildlife Park through Buy a Gift. We arrived at the park about an hour before our experience was due to start so started exploring. Because the weather forecast was predicting rain, and the winds were picking up and it was rather cold, Jamie (who conducted the fox experience) suggested we start the fox experience earlier than booked. We were happy to do so. From start to finish it was a great experience. Jamie was exceptionally knowledgeable and a great host, but the star of the show was Sox the red fox. He made 'Er indoors very happy indeed by allowing her to tickle his ears and behaving almost like a domestic cat. The fox experience was advertised as being approximately 30 minutes long, but I am sure we were treated to at least 45 minutes - thank you Jamie! Echo the lynx deserves a mention, as do the other foxes Sky, Dexter and the others whose names escape me (more and more senior moment as the hair gets greyer I am afraid). We were also blessed to be in the reptile house at feeding time. The green iguanas have appalling manners, climbing over the tortoises in order to get to the salad bar. Atrocious behaviour! The cold weather was probably a blessing in disguise, as the park was not too crowded. The fox experience included a light lunch at the Kalahari cafe. Everything was home-cooked and fresh and good value for money. The home-made cakes presented a problem - which one to have. Problem solved by having coffee and cake before lunch, and also after lunch. The Ark Wildlife Park is a great day out - but also a noble endeavour as it provides a great home for animals and reptiles that need sanctuary for a variety of reasons. Keep up the good work guys! And thank you for giving 'er indoors a big smile on her face (it certainly wasn't me!)
