Comedy of errors
13 July 2022
First impression not the best. No option but to sit on a low sofa with a table in front as the only table with chairs inside the room was taken. I asked for the tea to be served when the afternoon tea was ready, however, the waiter looked perplexed and said we could always get more. As expected the tea came about 10 to 15 mins before the food so was already not piping hot, which I was tring to avoid. Therefore, the initial pot of tea was wasted. Due to there being very few sandwiches each, we thought we would ask if we could have some more. We sat and waited over 20 minutes for the waiter to reappear during which time we did look to find him but could not see him around. Eventually a lady passed through the room so we asked where the waiter was as we would have enquired if we could have a few more sandwiches. She aplogised and arranged for us to have some more as we had been waiting and we then needed fresh tea. We had our small cakes and asked if the scones could be reheated a little but the lady insisted they would make fresh ones. We did say that was not necessary at all and just to reheat the ones we had which were perfectly fine but again she insisted. When the scones eventually came they were cold in the middle. Clearly defrosted or something as they were not fresh. The lady took them away and brought more 'fresh' ones. Again these were cold in the middle. How disappointing. So, she took everything away and brought fresh tea and a glass of bubbly each! We were also given a few strawberries and fudge with the next set of scones. This was a treat for my Husband's birthday but unfortunately it was totally spoilt by so many small issues and unneccesary errors that cumulatively culminated in a bad experience. We love our afternoon teas and have had many enjoyable experiences, however, this will go down as our worst. By the way, we did spot the original waiter 1 hour and 20 minutes later reappearing from the garden where we had last seen him go!

A Perfect Afternoon
05 September 2021
The staff at Charingworth Manor were friendly, polite and helpful and helped to make this a very special occasion for my husband and I. We sat in the garden with beautiful open views, surrounded by flowers, butterflies and bees, and enjoyed a wonderful Afternoon Tea. Inside the Manor was spotlessly clean and oozing with character. It was a delightful setting, and so very English. Afterwards we drove into picturesque Chipping Campden for a little stroll around the town. Such a perfect gift for us from our daughter. I highly recommend. I shall remember this wonderful afternoon for a very long time. Top service at Charingworth Manor, absolutely A*.

Afternoon Tea for two
05 September 2021
This was a much delayed treat due to Covid. The hotel is in a beautiful location and stunning historic building. The tea was ok- there was no menu of different leaves of teas so I had Earl Grey, my daughter Breakfast Tea. I don't know if there were others. We chose two types of sandwiches each from a fairly limited list. They were lovely and fresh. The scones were nice and warm. The selection of cakes wasn't great. The staff were hard to find and were not overly helpful (apart from the young girl waiter who was very nice). Overall we felt a bit disappointed and had not been thoroughly spoilt, as has happened at other venues. I guess a lot of people are catching up on Christmas treats!

Lovely afternoon tea in the countryside
09 December 2019
It was very nice. Had to ask for the open fire to be lit when we arrived but that was done very quickly. Perhaps a little surprised that you had to choose 2 small sandwiches only from the list of fillings, never had that before but overall it was nice. Very cosy, friendly staff and nice food.

Lovely afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. Peaceful location and excellent staff made it a special treat. Prompt and efficient service, the waitress even came out to the garden with us to take our photo. Thoroughly recommended. In fact we quite fancy coming back to stay the night sometime.

Luxurious experience
25 June 2019
We took two friends here for afternoon tea. This was superior to other teas we have experienced. The sandwich choices were original, the scones top notch and instead of stodgy cakes, there were mini desserts so that we managed to eat most of the food. We sat in the beautiful garden and it was a lovely, relaxing experience. Service was great too and we had several refills of tea. Will definitely go there again.
