The day out was great in all respects. But we had been given a gift and could choose anything up to the gift price. We knew we had to buy the experience before Sunday, but thought, due to all the BuyaGift pages saying, 'valid for a year', that once noted it was valid for a year. No. The experience had to be taken by the expiry date too and that's not made clear enough. Luckily we had decided to do it now so did not lose out. It costs £20 to extend the voucher. So I'd say, don't bother with an open voucher that can be used for anything, get the experience itself. Added to which, I was emailed a load of cheaper offers for the same experience but couldn't use them as I had been given a gift voucher. It was all a bit frustrating, but the day out, seeing the animals and tea were great.

My 13-year-old and I had an amazing time on the meerkat experience. We went into three different enclosures where the meerkats climbed on us, sat on us and we got to feed them. We were really lucky as in the last enclosure there were three babies (6 wks) who also climbed on us and wanted lots of snuggles. Our guide was Charlotte who was fab and very knowledgeable. The actual zoo is great too with lots of different animals to see and some to handfeed as well. Definitely recommend this experience gift, and Hoo Zoo

We always use our buy a gift vouchers in the school holidays to spread costs. We had a great time at York Birds of Prey Centre. It's so hands on and you get really close to some magnificent birds

We treated ourselves to this experience and had a great time. We purchased the "add on" tickets, so we could spend the day here, before our experience time. There was just a small group- 3 couples, so we could all have a share in the feeding and fussing. A nice day out! Plenty of shaded areas too, much needed on a particularly exceptionally hot day, both for human visitors and the animals too. We didn't expect to enjoy the dinosaurs, but there was a wow from both my husband and I so that was a bonus!!! We used a groupon voucher, but have been singing praises to others, so this place will get more visitors coming on our recommendations! Thank you for giving us a Funday Monday!

Amazing tour for the whole family so much to see and do. Very informative for all ages.

Fantastic experience meeting the meerkats , we got to feed them in their enclosure and learn more about their habit and needs. Great well informed keeper. Ticket included entrance to the rest of Eagle Heights for the day, so we saw all their animals and a bird of prey display with their eagles.

To start with the positives, a lovely time with the meerkats. But our experience was delayed so we had less than the hour which was a shame- delayed due to us not knowing where to sign in and it was a bit disorganized. But the actual experience was worth it, the meerkats are lovely, very friendly and love the attention and to snuggle. There was a young kid there and they snuggled in her coat. We were concerned about the lack of heat in the cabin for the meerkats, I know they originate from colder climates but thetes no sand in the pen for them to bury themselves and keep warm ? Staff were knowledgeable and they all seemed to enjoy it there. Be warned its very muddy but they provide wellies for you. A perfect hands on experience with the little meerkats.
