Most enjoyable gift
Very warm welcome and it was fine for us to have our dog with us. The afternoon tea comprised chips, sausage roll battered fish then onto club sandwich, scones with jam and cream and and a good selection of cakes. Too much for the two of us so the staff provided a doggie box to take home. A very comfortable restaurant overlooking the gardens with Lake Windermere close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
One critiscism is the lack of disabled toilet facilities. My wife uses a wheelchair and found the toilet very difficult to access.

Very sad 60th birthday treat
This was the worst afternoon tea and venue that i could have chosen from the list of available places to use my voucher.
There was no customer service. No one told us what was on the plate. The sandwiches and cake had just come from the fridge, so were very chilled. Poor selection of sandwiches, nothing inspiring on packet white/brown bread. Cream cheese and chunks of cucumber was the worst. The scones were horrible, value jam from a pot, cream had a skin on it, and still couldnt tell what the cake was. Extremely poor, slab cake, burnt with sugar on, some mini tart, no idea what, and something brown with glitter?? Tea was good and a second pot was offered. Overall it was a thorough waste of the 1.5 hour journey each way and days annual leave for us both. I would not recommend at all and feel a bit cheated of what should have been a nice gift.
