Japanese Whisky Tasting and Masterclass for Two at MAP Maison 10771556

I went along with no real expectation of what to expect, but had such a good time. The team there were fun and obviously knew their stuff. This was a first for me for Japanese whisky and was not disappointed. I'm not going to say its better than my Single Malt Scottish favourites, but they were all very nice. The cocktails were rather good too!

I bought this for my boyfriend who is a big fan of japanese whisky. We really loved the history of Japanese whisky which was given alongside the actual tasting, with the opportunity to make our own cocktails at the end. It was a lovely, personal session and the staff were really welcoming. We would have loved to stay longer but they only had Sunday availability and we had work the next day!

What a great find! Friendly staff, fantastic cosy decor and the whiskies were amazing. We learnt so much about Japanese history as well as the whisky itself and the cocktails were beautiful

We were given a very good explanation about the history of Japanese whiskey. We were also given 3 samples to try - all delicious! Then we were able to make a whiskey based cocktail each - overall really good masterclass and great bar!

If you like whisky you will love this experience. After our glass of prosecco we tasted three different Japanese whiskeys and learned about their history from Heidi our friendly and knowledgeable mixologist. Heidi made us a truely amazing cocktail and then we had a chance to make our own - which turned out better than expected!

I was very pleased to get a slot with a few days notice but I was informed I was very lucky as classes sell out months in advance , so best to plan ahead and not be disappointed . Booking was done directly the bar through email and the response was prompt . The venue is lovely but a little out of the way , 30 min walk from Old Street Tube or 2 minutes from Haggerston Overground . The class was superb , Heidi was very knowledgeable and you could see genuine fondness for the Japanese whisky . You get a prosecco on arrival , which she happily changed to a beer for me . Then there is an introduction to Japanese whisky and how it started right up to present day . You are given three whiskies to try , Suntory blended , Nikka and a Nikka All Malt ( this was my fav ) . You are free and encouraged to ask questions as the experience proceeds and give your opinion on the whiskies you have tasted . After the class you are then invited to pick out your cocktails , and better still to go round the bar and make them . You get two cocktails each which are beautifully presented and since you made it very tasty :-) After the class we stuck around and had some more cocktails and whiskies , the price range is good and the selection excellent ( for Japanese whiskies) . If you enjoy drinking whiskey and enjoy the history associated I would highly recommend this experience . Shaun .

Great cocktail bar, with a wonderful atmosphere. I bought the gift voucher for myself & daughter so we could do something a little different together. It was just us on the materclaß & we were looked after very well. The owner made it interesting & was knowledgeable. We got to taste 3 different whiskey & 2 cocktails, along with a welcoming processco. So felt very merry by the end! It was a good afternoon,
