Forget first impressions
Although the hotel is on the front access is through a back yard into a reception and bar in the unrestored basement, which was not attractive. However the staff were excellent, our small room was upgraded free of charge and the standard double we got was newly renovated, large and comfortable with big TV, tea making facilities and a good shower room. The food in the restaurant was really good, cooked to order and well presented. Unusually each course had to be paid for separately, because of previous guests leaving without payment. The full English breakfast was a classic. We had a dog (£!0) and parking, also £10. We would certainly go again. Incidentally why was £30 added automatically to the buygift vocher?
