Overnight Break with Dinner for Two at The Ickworth Hotel 10966528

Very relaxing break in a picturesque setting

I was dissappointed with this so called LUXURY hotel, the lounges and restaurants were tired and could do with a good clean, the actual bedroom was lovely and clean and adequate.I had upgraded my voucher by paying an extra £79. The food was extremely overpriced and poor, I had a small bowl of unseasoned oxtail soup which was insipid. A small piece of bread, no butter. My husband had potted shrimps , which again was pathetic for £13. Main course Skate for £25. A small piece of skate , with potato wedges, and something else , which the waitress didn't know what it was, not sure if it was meant to be hot or cold , bearing in mind the voucher promised a 2 course meal, in fact it was a £28 allowance which meant you had a tiny choice without paying extra. Only 3 meat dishes on menu , no partridge, run out of duck and the steak was £ 34. There were water glasses on table ,not offered water and there seemed a lack of staff, tables weren't cleared promptly, you had to go and find someone to order a drink , no tablecloths.......and the list goes on . THIS IS NOT LUXURY OR RELAXING

Lovely dog friendly hotel, included free pass to the National Trust property. 1800 acres to walk in. Beautiful room.Did not have a spa treatment as all booked up (suggest you book when reserving room). only downside for us, no jacuzzi
