Overview
This bird of prey centre in Stourbridge has been running for well over 20 years and has a wealth of experience in providing once-in-a-lifetime hands-on bird displays and flying experiences. The day begins with tea and coffee, and a brief introduction to the centre’s work, followed by a tour. You’ll meet and interact with Harris Hawks, Barn Owls, Buzzards and Eagle Owls, learning their individual habits, hunting behaviour, and characteristics, before being introduced to the basics of falconry. Then, you’ll have an opportunity to fly a bird to your hand, wearing the protective gauntlet and with an instructor close by. Feeling the graceful power of a bird of prey up close is something that will stay with you forever! Don’t forget your camera for a number of fantastic photo opportunities on this unique day out, which will last approximately three hours.

I luckily had the opportunity to visit this venue previously and had a truly wonderful experience with. O complaints whatsoever. However on my second visit was very disappointed. It was not so interested or exciting with less connection with the Birds of Prey.

Our bird handler Andy was fully of information and really communicated well

The Best Gift Ever

This is a truly wonderful experience. Everyone at the Falconry Centre is friendly and welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the birds you meet. You get a lot of time to wonder around and learn from Andy about the collection before getting many opportunities to fly a variety of hawks and owls. Watching Andy fly one of the falcons to a lure is, I promise you, one of the most breathtaking experiences you will ever have. You can fly the birds in any weather and it will be equally magical whether in Summer or Winter. I did the half day bird handling experience in the Falconry Centre grounds, but I will definitely be going back to fly the birds in the local woodland. My thanks to all of the team at the centre and keep the jokes coming Andy!

A great day out which involved a tour and talk about all the birds of prey and then flying 8 birds in total including a Snowy Owl, American Kestrel, Barn owl, Tawny Owl, Ferruginous Hawk and a Turkey Vulture. A brilliant half-day -with a marvellous facilitator who gave so much information. Two tea breaks were also included in the package.

Both my husband and I went. The amount of birds are amazing and to fly them was such a brilliant feeling. The staff were excellent and very thorough with information. Overall a great experience and would certainly go again.

Morning started off with a very friendly greeting and time to wonder around the many aviaries. We were then called for coffee and biscuits wand given an introduction to what we would be doing.
After being given details of all the birds we would fly the action started. I got to fly a number of birds from a small kestrel to a large eagle owl. To be in such close contact was absolutely amazing. We had plenty of opportunity over the rest of the morning to fly each bird a number of times under the expert guidance of the staff at the center.
