East Somerset Railway

Are you a keen steam train fan with wanderlust for adventure and discovery? Jump aboard a lovingly restored heritage locomotive from the East Somerset Railway to be transported back to the romanticised, golden age of Victorian travel with a magical railway journey back in time. Conceived by Isambard Brunel and opened in 1858, the ESR line ran successfully for many glorious years. But due to the devastating effect of two world wars, the invention of the motor car and more efficient modes of transport, the East Somerset Railway let the coal burn out and station whistle blow for the last time, in 1964.

But like a phoenix out of the ashes, dedicated enthusiasts and national funding helped reopen the line better than ever in 1974. See history come to life and grab your golden ticket from our hand-picked collection of amazing journeys on the ESR line.
