Afternoon tea
Lovely welcome from reception and the lady knew we had rung and asked to change booking to half an hour ealier than originally booked. That message didn’t seem to have been passed to the kitchen.
Lovely welcome from the girl who agreed to clear a window table for us. Then we waitrd…. After waiting 25 minutes I went and asked how long the food would be. It arrived not long after, at the time of the original booking.
I think the fact that they had wedding on at the same time was probably a factor. I completely understand that the wedding is much more important. Maybe don’t offer afternoon teas at the same time? We found the containers to take some home and rang and waited at reception to see if we needed to hand in the paper voucher. We did. Not enough staff on to actually’ ‘look after’ the afternoon tea people.
Food was just good. A bit top heavy on pastry. No actual cake! Have had much better. But the gardens are lovely so we packed up what we wanted to take home and went for a wander round.

Lovely scones
A lovely selection of finger sandwiches and sweet treats. The scone was warm and wasn’t dry. The decor was beautiful with traditional looking china teacups and saucers. The building itself was also magnificent with gorgeous grounds and beautiful views.

Really enjoyed it, beautiful food
We had this bought as a Christmas present but really enjoyed it. Everything was freshly made that day, pastry was delicious and the scones ??.

Well presented. Good quality food staff friendly and helpful. But the plates and cups and saucers did not match.

Afternoon tea
The afternoon tea was something of a disappointment, the sandwiches were rather large for afternoon tea, the cakes were generic nothing special, the coffee was served in a very heavy stone teapot. The place itself could do with a refurb. On the positive side the staff were helpful.
