Great Birthday idea
Our lovely neighbours gave me this treat for my 70th birthday. Wroxton house turned out to be a little gem tucked away in the country just a few miles from Banbury.
Our afternoon tea was served by lovely friendly staff and the food was freshly made and tasty. In particular, we loved the home made savoury items.
The scones and cream team were nice, but being from Devon, I would have liked clotted cream rather than the whipped cream served. Raspberry jam was provided rather than traditional strawberry. This is not a criticism, more of a preference.
We would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone wanting afternoon tea in a beautiful setting. There is lots of free parking at the hotel so no need to worry about that.

Afternoon tea at Wroxton House
On arrival, we could not find a member of staff. When the food came out, it looked lovely, but the sandwiches were not made as advertised, ham salad was ham and mustard, egg and cress were egg and lettuce. Coffee cake was not advertised and as for the scone, it was rock hard, I could not cut up with my knife. We waited 30 minutes for a member of staff to exchange it, which they did. A staff member only came once to see if we were okay. We waited another 40 minutes , as we wanted to take the food we did not like home to family, but no-one came. I have been here ,6 times for afternoon tea and the service and food has definitely changed. Mustard is an allergy .but this is not written on the menu.
The receptionist was very rude because I did not have a paper print out voucher and I had to send the voucher via email.
My friend an I will not be returning!
